Dear Counselor Education Students:

Please plan to attend the following FREE event. Even if you are not yet able to become a Mu Beta Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota member or if you do not wish to become a member, you are welcome to attend. You are cordially invited to attend the 2019 Mu Beta chapter of Chi Sigma Iota Awards/Induction Ceremony and End of the Year Celebration. Event begins at 6:00 P.M and will include snacks, a keynote from our honored guest, the presentation of CSI awards, and CSI Induction Ceremony.

We are honored to have via SKYPE as our as our keynote speaker Victoria E. Kress, Ph.D./LPCC-S, NCC, CCMHC. She is the director of the clinical mental health and addictions counseling programs at Youngstown State University. She has over 25 years of experience in various clinical settings. She served as a governor appointed member of the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, and served as the chair of the Counselor Professional Standards Committee. She has been the recipient of 36 professional and community service awards, most of which for her leadership, advocacy, scholarship, and mentorship initiatives. She has also received awards for her work with people who have intellectual disabilities, for empowering girls in her community, for her sexual assault prevention efforts, and for her child abuse advocacy work. She has published over 130 refereed articles and book chapters, and she has co-authored 5 books on counseling youth and adults. She was identified as the top producer/publisher in counseling journals between the years 2000-2017. She has also been cited as a top contributing author to the Journal of Mental Health Counseling as well as the Journal of College Counseling. She previously served as the associate editor of the Theory and Practice Sections of the Journal of Mental Health Counseling.

Dr. Kress will be speaking about leadership in the counseling profession.

The event will take place on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Western Michigan University, Sangren Hall Room 1710 (Address to locate Sangren Hall on car GPS, use 2050 W MICHIGAN AVE), Kalamazoo, MI 49008. You must park in Lot 41, which is behind Sangren Hall off of Central Campus Drive (D-6 on the campus map). Sangren Hall can be found at E-6 on the campus map. www.wmich.edu/maps/wmupmap.pdf.
